Companies can choose the services they prefer to avail. Our pricing is based on the processing needs of your company (employee strength and revenue) and the services you choose.

Our HR consultants study the Hong Kong market for your industry and design a suitable plan for you to grow organically while keeping your employees and customers happy.

Trust is the most important factor for a new company in a foreign market. If executed to the letter, our business expansion strategy can smoothen your company’s transition into the Hong Kong market.

Maintenance Of Regulatory Compliance

During all our operations, we always keep an eye out for the country’s existing labor laws and tax requirements set by the government. We ensure that you remain compliant legally and focus on building a trustworthy brand in Hong Kong.

We have a core team of HR professionals who have managed HR needs for multiple companies across different industries. They are experienced in local mandates for businesses in the Hong Kong market.

Talent Management And Recruitment Strategy

You need to consider fresh recruitment for new positions while opening a branch in a new country like Hong Kong. Our HR team makes the process seamless by shortlisting the most eligible candidates beforehand.

Once finalized, employees go through an orientation session that conveys what is expected from them in the company. We judge if their views align with your company’s mode of operation so that they work at their productive best once hired.

Our method provides unmatched quality assurance for employees and the company alike. We aim to create a win-win situation for both parties. Only the top talent makes it to your company.

Highlights Of Our Services

If you think that’s all, then you’re mistaken. Once in charge, we provide an end-to-end HR solution that functions at its peak spontaneously. There are some tools and strategies that help us get there every time.

Here’s a quick overview of our core differentiating factors and additional services:

State-of-the-art HR Management Software

We use amazing software that simplifies managing large volumes of HR tasks. It makes query resolution and communication with the employees a breeze. For interested partners, we either collaborate with the company’s in-house payroll team or set up a remote payroll team that outsources all their payroll needs alongside HR.

Employee Support And Relocation Assistance

We assist non-resident Hong Kong employees in finding the right accommodation, handling their visa paperwork, abiding by social security norms, and setting up local identification cards. Periodic training sessions and audits ensure that your employees stay up-to-date on the latest workflow trends.

We also set up a support team that looks after the concerns of your employees about applicable taxes, work culture within the company, paid work leave, employment contracts, and other issues.

Employee Engagement Programs (EEPs)

Our professional consultants brainstorm the most effective programs to be run internally within the company (such as sales contests, speech competitions, friendly business lunches, etc.) that can improve the overall performance of your employees. We keep running these cost-effective schemes regularly to make work feel like play.

Work Culture And Mandates In Hong Kong

The governing body in Hong Kong has implemented certain regulations to prevent the exploitation of workers. The goal is to maintain a healthy work environment within companies operating in their territory.

Employees receive benefits like various types of paid work leave, minimum wage specifications, and severance pay (if applicable), among others.

Standard Payroll Cycle And Minimum Wages

The standard duration of payroll disbursement in Hong Kong is monthly (around the 25th of every month). Based on their convenience, companies can also choose a bi-weekly arrangement for salary distribution.

The minimum wage requirement in Hong Kong is set at HK$4,800 per month for all non-domestic workers aged 18 or over as of February 1, 2024.

Companies should align their pay scales with these guidelines for all job positions.

Types of Work Leave

Type of Work Leave Criteria and Benefits
Annual Leave After one year of service, employees can take up to 7 days of paid annual leave per year. This increases by 1 day for every five years of service, up to a maximum of 14 days.
Sick Leave The Labor Code does not specify a set count of sick leave days; however, sickness benefits are disbursed after a five-day waiting period for a maximum of 180 days annually. These benefits are administered via social security. Employees are required to notify their employer and furnish a medical certificate within 48 hours.
Parental Leave Maternity leave encompasses a provision of 14 weeks wherein mothers receive 66.7% of their daily earnings after a five-day waiting period, all paid through social security.
Paternity leave grants fathers one paid day off within the initial five days following the birth of the child.

Overtime Compensation In Hong Kong

The maximum length of a workday should be 10 hours. In other words, a standard workweek in Hong Kong cannot exceed 60 hours. Any work done beyond these limits falls under overtime and is liable for compensation according to the stipulated guidelines.

Overtime pay rates in Hong Kong vary depending on the employee’s regular working hours:

  • For a 48-hour workweek: at the rate of 75%
  • For less than 48 hours: 25% up to 48 hours and 50% beyond
  • For part-time work: 50%

Severance Benefits And Contract Termination

At any point in time, if the employer or the worker is not satisfied with the existing employment status, they can terminate the contract. They can subsequently adhere to the notice period rules stipulated in the contract.

If an employee is dismissed unfairly, he/she is entitled to severance pay as well. The amount is calculated as one day’s pay for each month of employment, with a maximum of three months’ pay. The only exception is when employees are terminated for misconduct.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do HR consulting services cost in Hong Kong?

While the exact amount varies from one HR consultant to another, it largely depends on your selected services. Integrated payroll and HR management come with their own set of advantages (for instance, unmatched efficiency and insights) but cost more.

On the other hand, partial outsourcing of core HR functions or low processing needs would imply lower costs.

You should evaluate the most beneficial services for your company and consider a reliable service provider with flexible plans and offerings.

What are the notice period guidelines for employees and employers in Hong Kong?

The government has provided a few guidelines for serving the notice period post-termination of the employment contract.

For Employees For Employers
● 1 month if no notice period is specified in the contract.
● At least 7 days during the probation period (after the first month).
● As stipulated in the contract (minimum of 7 days).

● 1 week for every year of service (up to 12 weeks) for continuous contracts with no specified notice period.
● As stipulated in the contract (minimum of 7 days).

Payment in lieu of notice – Instead of serving the entire duration of the notice period, payment can be made for the same.

No notice required in cases of reasonable fear of danger, ill-treatment, or permanent disability.

Payment in lieu of notice – Employee can request payment instead of working the full notice period.

Immediate termination with payment can be done in cases of misconduct, breach of contract, or redundancy (subject to specific conditions).

Do HR consulting firms take care of interviews when hiring new employees?

The entire process of conducting interviews for fresh recruitment is automated by the on-ground professionals of an HR consulting agency. Right from shortlisting eligible candidates to finalizing them and drafting their employment contracts, all processes are completed by your outsourced HR partner. The candidates are also relocated to their place of work (if they are non-resident employees), and visa requirements are taken care of.

The recruitment process, however, should be as transparent and unbiased as possible. It should focus on bringing in the right kind of employees to the workforce as per the requirements of your company.
